Phillipine Idol
I had recently begun following Philippine Idol. I think I'm going to get into some trouble saying this, but I will anyway: the contestants SUCK. Whether its due to the saturation by all the annual competing singing talent searches or what not. There was very little that I saw (and heard) in the last two episodes that I've seen that tells me that one of these contestants will truly be impressive.
Let's benchmark: in the interest of fairness, I wont mark the bench at the Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia Brarrino, and Carrie Underwood. I'll place the bar at Sarah Geronimo, Christian Bautista, and Erik Santos.
With that out of the way, I must say that I haven't seen or heard anyone from the hopefuls with comparable singing chops. Admittedly it's a bit early to say, but if you watch the audition videos for the abovementioned American Idols (especially that of current Idol Taylor Hicks, which you can view you must say it was quite impressive to begin with).
Well, as I was looking for a fair comparison sample, I came across this:
Hmm, I think I'm changing my mind about my original opinion. I don't I could be fair making a sweeping pass having seen only two episodes and only half of the eliminations at the CCP. In any case, after watching that girl, I'm getting excited about the idol search. I totally missed out on last season's American Idol and this year I'm prepared to make an emotional investment in one of the contestants here in the Philippines.
A 180-degree opinion change in mid-post! Now that's the game!

Well, at least you came around. And you tell me I'm judgmental. 0_o
